Hair Transplant Surgery Cost in Turkey

Hair transplant surgery cost in Turkey is usually built into an all-inclusive package of roughly $1,500–$3,500, but the surgical part varies by technique, graft count, whether you shave, and how much of the operation a qualified doctor performs. Unshaven, sapphire, DHI and surgeon-performed procedures typically cost more.

What does hair transplant surgery cost in Turkey?

Few Turkish clinics publish a separate surgical fee - they fold the operation, hotel and transfers into one package, commonly around $1,500–$3,500. That makes it hard to see what you're paying for the surgery itself, and harder to compare clinics that include different extras.

A useful way to think about it: the hotel and transfers usually account for a small share of the package. Most of the price is the surgical day - the operating room, the medical team, anaesthetic, instruments and sterilisation. When one package costs double another, the difference is almost always in the surgery: who performs it, how long it takes and how many patients share the team. For what else sits in a package, see hair transplant cost in Turkey.

How do prices differ by surgical technique?

The figures below are broad, typical patterns in Turkey, not fixed prices. Premium clinics can charge well above them, and many clinics bundle several of these options together.

TechniqueHow it differsTypical price effect in TurkeyUS comparison
Standard FUE (steel blade or needle)Individual extraction; incisions made with a steel blade or needleBase package price~$5–$8 per graft
Sapphire FUERecipient incisions made with a sapphire-tipped bladeOften a modest upgrade or included by defaultUsually similar to FUE pricing
DHI / implanter penGrafts placed with a pen that makes the incision and implants at onceOften priced above standard FUEOften at or above FUE pricing
Unshaven FUEExtraction between existing hairs; slower and more demandingUsually a significant surchargeTypically priced above standard FUE
FUT (strip)Strip of donor skin removed and dissectedLess commonly offered to tourists~$3–$6 per graft
Beard or moustacheScalp donor hair placed in facial skinOften similar to a scalp package$3,000–$7,000
EyebrowsSmall number of single-hair grafts, precise anglesUsually below scalp packages$2,000–$4,000

Technique names are also heavily used in marketing. Ask whether a "premium" technique changes the result for your case, or just the price. Our comparisons of DHI vs FUE and sapphire FUE in Turkey go into the details.

What is the surgical fee really paying for?

A transplant is a long day of meticulous manual work. A 2,500-graft FUE session can take 6–8 hours and involves several distinct tasks: extracting each graft, sorting and keeping grafts hydrated and cool, making recipient incisions at the right angle and density, and placing each graft without crushing it.

A higher-priced surgery typically buys more senior involvement in the steps that most affect the result - hairline design, incision angles and donor management - plus a smaller team caseload so grafts spend less time outside the body. A low price often means a doctor who designs the hairline and then moves between several patients while technicians do the rest.

Session length is a useful sense-check. If a clinic says it will place 4,000 grafts in a morning, or the doctor will be "supervising" three rooms at once, the price is being kept low by reducing the time any one skilled person spends on your scalp.

Where does the surgery take place?

Turkish rules require hair transplant surgery to be carried out in licensed health facilities under the responsibility of a physician, and reputable clinics operate from licensed hospitals or medical centres. Unlicensed operators working from converted apartments or salons do exist, and professional bodies including the ISHRS have warned about illegal clinics where unqualified staff perform surgery.

Ask for the name and address of the facility where you'll be operated on - not just the sales office - and check that it's a licensed medical facility. If the answer changes, or the clinic won't say, walk away.

Which pre-op tests and medical checks should be included?

Proper surgical care begins before the first incision. Expect, and ask about:

  • Blood tests on arrival, commonly including blood count, clotting and screening for infections such as hepatitis and HIV
  • A medical history review covering medications, blood thinners, allergies, heart conditions and previous surgery
  • A scalp examination by the doctor to confirm donor density and diagnose the type of hair loss
  • Informed consent in a language you fully understand, listing risks and the planned graft count
  • Clear rules on alcohol, smoking and supplements before surgery

A clinic that skips these to keep the schedule moving is cutting corners on the surgery itself, not just the paperwork.

Does a higher surgical fee buy a better result?

Not reliably on its own, but the factors that drive price and those that drive results overlap. A surgeon who personally performs extractions and incisions, treats fewer patients a day and plans conservatively tends to cost more - and those are the same things that protect graft survival and your donor area. Paying more for a technique label, a larger hotel room or a free PRP session does much less for your hair.

Wherever you have surgery, results take time: shedding around weeks 2–4, growth from about month 3, visible change around month 6 and a final result at 12 months or more. Our recovery timeline explains each stage.

How can you check the surgical side before paying?

  1. Ask for the operating doctor's full name, specialty and years performing transplants.
  2. Ask exactly which steps the doctor performs, and get it in writing.
  3. Ask how many surgeries the clinic runs per day and how many the doctor oversees.
  4. Ask how graft survival is protected - storage solution, temperature and time out of body.
  5. Request 12-month result photos from that doctor, including the donor area.
  6. Confirm the licensed facility's name and address.
